John Kershaw

1792-1870

A poor Lancashire weaver who became pastor of Hope Chapel Rochdale for nearly 53 years. Sent out to preach by the church under the pastoral care of John Warburton his ministry was made a blessing to many. Annually called to preach in London, he attracted large congregations, and in Edinburgh he was entertained by the City Provost whilst on a preaching tour.

Some of his sermons are still in print. His autobiography has passed through many editions.
