    We are thankful that the Homes are at the moment stable and we will be making an anouncement next week about visiting.
  • 27 Jun 2020
       We are grateful to the Lord for continuing to watch over the three Bethesda Homes and keeping residents and staff safe.
       The trustees have been prayerfully considering and developing plans to introduce a facility in each of the Homes to allow visits to take place safely and ensure that residents, staff, and visitors are not placed at risk of infection. Inevitably, this will mean adapting the rules for visitors so that, in the Lord’s purposes, we can ensure the Homes are kept COVID-19 free. We will be writing in more detail during the forthcoming week regarding the timetable of opening these facilities.
       We would take this opportunity to announce that the funeral of Mr Michael Bailey who served for a number of years as a trustee of the Gospel Standard Bethesda Fund will take place, if the Lord will, on Wednesday, 1 July 2020 at 11:30 AM. The service will be conducted by Mr Gilbert Hyde, Pastor Jireh Chapel Tenterden.
       It is hoped to relay the service through the Bethesda website:
    https://www.gospelstandard.org.uk/Bethesda/Morning-Worship-Livestream where further details are posted.
       Please continue to pray that the trustees and management teams might be given wisdom to do what is right before the Lord to ensure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents.

        We are grateful to the Lord for continuing to watch over the three Bethesda Homes and keeping residents and staff safe from COVID-19 infection.
      Sadly, a resident In the Brighton Bethesda Home, Mrs Betty Stewart, passed away on Saturday 13th, June 2020 in the evening. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, her friends and those at Jireh Chapel, Haywards Heath. We would also remember the staff who lovingly cared for her at the Home – to depart and be with Christ; which is far better. (Philippians 1:23)
      If the Lord will, Mrs Stewart’s funeral will be held at Haywards Heath Chapel, on Tuesday 23rd June at 2.00 pm, Mr Richard Woodhams to officiate. It is hoped to relay the service through the Bethesda website – see https://www.gospelstandard.org.uk/Bethesda/Morning-Worship-Livestream  where further details will be posted.
      Please continue to pray that the trustees and management teams might be given wisdom to do what is right before the Lord to ensure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents.

       We are grateful to the Lord for continuing to watch over the three Bethesda Homes and keeping them safe from COVID-19 infection. It is also pleasing to note that all the residents and staff at the Brighton and Studley Bethesda Homes have been tested for the virus and everyone’s results have come back negative. Plans are in place, during the forthcoming week, to undertake similar testing at the Harpenden Home.
       The trustees are very mindful of the pressures that have been placed on residents, families, relatives and friends during the recent months and weeks due to the lockdown. If the Lord will, we would hope to report soon on a proposed solution to provide controlled visiting to the homes that we trust will ensure the safety and safeguarding of the residents and staff yet allow residents to see their loved ones.
       Please continue to pray that the trustees and management teams might be given wisdom to do what is right before the Lord to ensure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents.

       We are pleased to report that the empty flat at Harpenden is now occupied and also, we have been able to offer a married couple respite care at the Studley Home.
       It is with sadness, we note that Michael Bailey, who served as a trustee on the Bethesda Committee for several years, passed away on Friday, 5 June 2020. Our thoughts are with his wife Margaret and the family at this time.  (The memory of the just is blessed Psalm 10:7)
       Please continue to pray that the trustees and management teams might be given wisdom to do what is right before the Lord to ensure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents.

       Our weekly update once more records the Lord's mercy to Bethesda. All three Homes are continuing to operate - with the Lord's help - albeit with the present COVID - 19 precautions still in place and our residents and staff are gradually returning to 'normal'.
       We are acutely aware of the desire of relatives and friends to visit loved ones in the Homes. Bethesda is exploring what arrangements need to be in place to allow visits, in the Lord’s purposes, to recommence in the Homes. Any easing of restrictions will need to be in line with H.M. Government’s guidelines and ensure that residents, staff, and visitors are not placed at risk of infection. (Jeremiah 32:27)
       Please continue to pray that the trustees and management teams might be given wisdom to do what is right before the Lord to ensure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents.
    From today we will not be issuing a weekly bulletin and placing this on the website. We would ask you to regularly check the 'News and Announcement' section on the website, if the Lord will, for future updates.
       The trustees have much cause to return thanks to Almighty God and although as yet the Homes have not completely returned to 'normal' we have seen answers to our many prayers in preserving Bethesda. May we each be given a true spirit of thanksgiving for the Lord's lovingkindness and compassion to us particularly during those anxious times over the past few weeks.
    'We'll praise Him for all that is past,
    And trust Him for that's to come.'

    We acknowledge the Lord's mercy in continuing to watch over our three Homes during another week.
    The residents and staff at the Brighton and Studley Homes are still free from COVID - 19 symptoms and the situation at Harpenden is stable.
    We feel that the Lord has, thus far, placed a 'hedge' about our Bethesda Homes and has in mercy preserved both staff and residents from the serious effects of the virus.
    The Trustees continue to value the prayerful interest of our supporters at this time.
    'Plagues and deaths around me fly;
    Till he bids, I cannot die;
    Not a single shaft can hit,
    Till the God of love sees fit.'
                                    Gadsby's 64 v 6

    With the ongoing concerns regarding the current outbreak of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Bethesda is carefully monitoring the situation in view of our residents being elderly and therefore particularly vulnerable and at ‘high risk’.

  • 16 May 2020
      Once again we are thankful to report, through the Lord's mercy, that all three Homes - Brighton, Harpenden and Studley - are continuing to operate as 'normal' and there is a further general improvement of health among staff and residents.
      However, whilst we have proved the Lord's gracious help to Bethesda during the past few weeks, it is still prudent that all relevant precautions continue.
      Following the recent statement made by the Prime Minister, sadly on Lords' Day 10th May, there was no mention of relaxing the prevailing visiting restrictions for Care Homes. The current conditions that are in place, relative to visiting the Homes by family, friends and supporters will therefore continue.
       If the Lord will, we will notify you when any changes are announced to the current regulations.
       Once more the Trustees acknowledge the Lord's goodness in watching over the Homes - residents and staff - during another week.

    'Whate'er be our wants, we need not to fear;
       Our numerous complaints his mercy will hear;
     His fulness shall yield us abundant supplies;
        His power shall shield us when dangers arise.'
                                                    Gadsby's 184 v 2

    We are thankful to report that both the residents and staff in all our Homes - Brighton, Harpenden and Studley - at present continue to be free of the 'signs and symptoms' of the COVID-19 virus.
    The residents are being cared for by the staff in the usual way - taking all appropriate precautions - conscious that the Coronavirus has had a devastating effect in some Care Homes. We sincerely thank our Home Managers and staff for their commitment - particularly in recent weeks.
    Although it may be some time before regular visiting can be resumed to the Homes we continue to value the loyal support and prayers of so many friends.
    The Trustees have particularly felt that their many prayers have been answered by a merciful Lord during the past few weeks.
        'The Lord Jehovah is my guide;
         He does and will for me provide;
         And in the mount it shall be seen,
         How kind and gracious He has been'.
                                           Gadsby's 513 v 4
